Paramount has pulled out all the stops with its latest trailer for Michael Bay’s “Transformers: The Last Knight,” showcasing non-stop action fans no doubt expect from the fifth film in the hit franchise.
The new international spot teases an epic battle between humans and robots, where Optimus Prime has gone to the dark side, and Anthony Hopkins is saddled with lots of exposition.
Mark Wahlberg returns from 2014’s “Age of Extinction” as Cade Yeager, who’s entrusted with saving the world once again, this time with some help from Sir Edmund Burton (Hopkins) and Viviane Wembly (Laura Haddock), an Oxford professor.
The fifth “Transformers” film appears to differ from the four that came before by having our heroes delve into the past to save the future.
“To save our future, we must unlock the past,” Burton says, to drive that point home.
There are a few returning cast members from earlier movies as well: John Turturro as Agent Simmons, Josh Duhamel as Lt. Col. William Lennox and Tyrese Gibson as Air Force Tech Sergeant Epps.
“Transformers: The Last Knight” opens in the U.S. June 21. Watch the trailer above.
