Tyrese Gibson will reprise his role of Robert Epps in “Transformers: The Last Knight,” the actor announced on social media.
“Rumor has it………… Nah…. Robert Epps is back,” Gibson wrote on Instagram on Monday with a picture of himself alongside director Michael Bay. “#T5 summer 2017 just got even more interesting.”
Gibson appeared as Epps in the first three “Transformers” movies, but was left out of 2014’s “Age of Extinction,” which focused on a character played by franchise newcomer Mark Wahlberg.
Wahlberg is also returning for “Transformers: The Last Knight,” the fifth installment in Paramount’s blockbuster franchise, co-starring Laura Haddock, Anthony Hopkins and Josh Duhamel. Plot details have remained under wraps, but in May, Bay shared a video on Instagram which teased the return of Megatron.
Last week, Bay introduced a new adorable character named Squeeks.
The film is currently in production and is set for a June 23, 2017 release.
Paramount had no comment on the casting — Gibson’s reps have not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
