Universal Pictures has dated two animated films for 2019 debuts, which includes a date push for the latest in the “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise.
The third “Dragon” film, which counts voice cast members like Jay Baruchel and Cate Blanchett, moves from a previously scheduled May 18, 2018 to March 1, 2019. Dean DeBlois returns to direct.
The first two films combined have exceed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, per Box Office Mojo.
The studio also dated “Everest,” an animated epic about a magical Yeti discovered by a traveling mission who must be returned to his family. That will roll out on Sept. 27, 2019.
Tim Johnson (“Home,” “Over the Hedge”) and co-directed by Todd Wilderman (“Open Season 2”), the animated comedy-adventure is written by William Davies (“How to Train Your Dragon,” “Puss in Boots”) and produced by Suzanne Buirgy (“Kung Fu Panda 2”).
