It is time to go back to “Broadchurch.” The BBC drama, which takes place in a secluded coastal village in England, wowed audiences in 2013 and is set to make a strong return in 2015.
The series focuses on Detective Inspector Alec Hardy (“Doctor Who” alum David Tennant) and Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) as they investigate the murder of an 11-year-old boy. Having seemingly solved the case at the end of Season 1, Season 2 will focus on the trial of the culprit. The trailer, however, hints that a new mystery is afoot, possibly centering on the abduction of several young girls.
Social media has been abuzz with the hashtag #Broadchurchreturns. Fans of the series have been waiting anxiously for the show’s return. The anticipation has only been heightened by the tight-lipped nature of the production on season 2.
The series was so popular after its first season that Fox adapted it into “Gracepoint,” starring Tennant and “Breaking Bad’s” Anna Gunn. The American version has met with limited success in the ratings and may not advance beyond its ten episode first season.
