Them’s fightin’ words, Paige Davis. The “Trading Spaces” host just took a thinly veiled shot at Joanna Gaines and the HGTV “Fixer Upper” star’s favorite design element.
At Friday’s Television Critics Association press tour, one journalist asked a panel of stars from the returning TLC show about their least-favorite home-design trends.
“I’m wondering if you are in agreement for certain types of design trends to disappear, and what some of your pet peeves are and some of the things that you have to talk homeowners out of — like, strongly — and steer them away from?” the reporter asked.
“Like shiplap?” Davis (pictured above, left) asked, eliciting laughter from the panel and the ballroom.
Yes, that was pretty much it — but this avid “Fixer Upper” viewer couldn’t help but detect major shade. Gaines (pictured above, right) is pretty much the unofficial spokeswoman for shiplap, a specific type of wood siding.
Also, to save you a Google, here’s what shiplap looks like, courtesy of Gaines’ Magnolia Market line:
Your move, Joanna. Oh wait: The woman behind HGTV’s No. 1 show is probably too busy counting her money to respond.
