Tracy Morgan is on the mend following a horrific traffic crash that left him seriously injured and took the life of his friend and colleague James McNair in 2014.
But along his path to recovery, the actor-comedian took a detour to the Other Side.
Morgan recalled an experience in the days following the New Jersey crash, during which he claimed to have met with his deceased father, to Oprah Winfrey on Winfrey’s “SuperSoul Sunday.”
In an episode that aired over the weekend, Morgan revealed, “I don’t know if I was in the coma or in and out of the coma … but I remember I was talking to my dad.
“He had this green thing on. I just remember him saying, ‘I’m not ready for you, son,’” the “30 Rock” alum recalled. “And I started crying so hard. I was crying harder probably than I cried at his funeral. And I just kept saying, ‘Dad,’ because he was my best friend in life.”
Morgan nearly died in the 2014 collision on the New Jersey Turnpike. During the multi-car collision, Morgan’s limousine van was struck by a truck driven by Walmart driver Kevin Roper.
Investigators concluded last month that Roper, from Clayton County, Georgia, had been awake for 28 hours prior to the accident. They also said that Roper was traveling at 65 MPH before the accident and could have prevented the crash if he had been driving 45 MPH, the speed limit where the crash occurred. Roper’s truck was traveling between 47 and 53 MPH when it collided with the limo, investigators said.
Morgan later settled with Walmart.
