Woody and Buzz are the gifts that just keep giving.
“Toy Story 3” has crossed the $1 billion mark, Disney announced Friday. That makes the sequel the first animated film to reach that milestone.
It’s more good news for a studio that’s having a very, very good year at the box office. In addition to “Toy Story,” Disney’s 3D fantasy film “Alice in Wonderland” also took in $1 billion.
That makes Disney the first studio in history to have two billion-grossers in a single year.
Only seven films and one other Disney title (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”) have hit the billion mark.
“Toy Story 3” currently ranks as the seventh highest grossing film at the global box office and the ninth highest grossing film domestically with $404.6 million in receipts to date.
