Toronto: John Turturro’s ‘Fading Gigolo’ U.S. Rights Sold to Millennium

Woody Allen plays a pimp in the Turturro-directed comedy

Millennium Entertainment has picked up U.S. rights to John Turturro‘s “Fading Gigolo,” which the “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” actor directed and co-stars in with Woody Allen, the distributor announced Monday.

Turturro plays a man who plies the world’s oldest trade to raise money for his pal (Allen) who, in the process, becomes his pimp. Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara also star.

The film premiered Saturday at the Toronto Film Festival. The individual said the deal was in the neighborhood of $3 million.

“Turturro has crafted a singular comedy which is as hilarious as it is romantic,” said Millennium Entertainment’s CEO Bill Lee. “We’ve fallen in love with Turturro’s ‘Gigolo’ and couldn’t be happier about releasing it.”

Millennium’s Tristen Tuckfield negotiated the deal with ICM Partners, which also reps Turturro and Allen.
