Toronto: CBS Films Closes Deal for Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘The F Word’

Romantic comedy features former Harry Potter star in grown-up role

UPDATE: CBS Films announced that it has completed the sale. The final price was $2.5 million.

PREVIOUS: CBS Films is close to a deal to acquire U.S. rights to “The F Word” for between $2 million to $2.5 million, according to an individual with knowledge of the talks.

The romantic comedy debuted at the Toronto Film Festival to strong reviews for its irreverent take on a well-worn genre and for star Daniel Radcliffe‘s performance as a love-struck young man. Many critics remarked that it was a fine, adult showcase for the former Harry Potter star.

“By placing so much emphasis on the characters and their relationships, the comedy just flows, and makes “The F Word” one of the funnier films I’ve seen this year,” Matt Goldberg wrote in a positive review for Collider.

CBS Films previously partnered with Radcliffe on “The Woman in Black,” which made nearly $55 million domestically when it debuted in 2012.

Zoe Kazan and Rafe Spall co-star in “The F Word” and Michael Dowse (“Goon”) directs.
