Condé Nast’s W magazine – currently in the process of a broad repositioning under new editor Stefano Tonchi – is filling out its masthead.
Tonchi announced several new hires on Thursday: Lynn Hirschberg, editor-at-large at the New York Times magazine with Tonchi, is jumping to W on May 3 (with the same title); Jody Quon, longtime photo director at New York, joins W as creative director on May 24; Lawrence Karol, who had been managing editor of Condé Nast’s shuttered Gourmet, gets the executive managing editor title; and Armand Limnander, features director at T: The New York Times magazine, will be the fashion news/features director when he arrives at W on May 10.
Last month, Tonchi told the New York Times that he wanted to make W “more of a general-interest style magazine” and “less of a fashion-obsessed publication.”
