TNT Grabs ‘Inception’ TV Rights

Deal with sibling movie studio Warner Bros. also yields “Sex and the City 2,” “Clash of the Titans” and “Due Date”

TNT has landed the TV rights to “Inception” as part of a movie package deal made with sibling movie studio Warner Bros., the network confirmed Wednesday.

In addition to the Christopher Nolan-directed sci-fi thriller, which is expected to cross the $100 million Thursday after just seven days of domestic release, the Turner network also licensed “Sex and the City 2,” “Valentine’s Day,” “Clash of the Titans” and “Jonah Hex.”

Also included is the upcoming Todd Phillips comedy “Due Date,” which is scheduled for release Nov. 5.

All the films in the package will debut on TNT starting in either 2012 or 2013.

License fees are said to be in the standard 10-12 percent of domestic theatrical gross, network officials confirm.

Confirmation of the deal comes on the same day that FX confirmed that it has acquired TV rights to Sony’s Angelina Jolie spy thriller “Salt.”
