Netflix’s dark family drama is coming to an end. “Bloodline” has received positive critical acclaim, but the streaming service is cutting the show after 3 seasons. Here are the cliffhangers and questions we hope come to a conclusion in the third and final season. Spoilers for Season 2 ahead.
Let’s just jump right in, shall we? The final scene in Season 2 shows John Rayburn (Kyle Chandler) driving away from town, away from his family, away from his problems. Wait, that’s not how things work, John! Also, you’re in the middle of running for sheriff. We know from the trailer for Season 3 that John is definitely around his family (enemies?) again, but we need details.
In the final episode of Season 2, Kevin (Norbert Leo Butz) follows John’s lead and ends up killing Marco (I said there would be spoilers!). It’s a crazy moment, but not altogether surprising given Kevin’s track record of acting off of emotion instead of logic. What does Marco’s (Enrique Murciano) death mean? Kevin has done a pretty bad job of keeping secrets since Season 1, and Marco is a cop, so it’s not like his death will go unnoticed. Will Kevin go to jail (again)? Will Belle (Katie Finneran) find out? What will Meg (Linda Cardinelli) and John think? Whatever happens, surely Kevin knows that another death is only another problem, not a solution.
John’s campaign financier Roy Gilbert (Beau Bridges) has gotten a hold of a tape that Danny made that reveals some Rayburn family secrets. This is moved over pretty swiftly, and we’re wondering what the ramifications will be in Season 3.
At the end of Season 2, Meg tearfully tells mom Sally (Sissy Spacek) “There’s something you need to know.” There are probably a few things you need to know, too, Meg. What exactly will Meg reveal to Sally? We’d better find out in the first or second episode.
Poor Nolan. It’s so obvious that Danny’s death was nowhere near being his fault, but he carries around the guilt. What will become of Danny’s son now?
Throughout Season 2, John’s wife Diana (Jacinda Barrett) has become increasingly frustrated with her husband. John has had visions of what were happen to him if his murderous secret got out. In one, his children beg Diana to let them skip visiting him in prison. Was that a premonition of what was to come? Honestly, that outcome seems pretty tame at this point. Nevertheless, we’re interested to see how John’s nuclear family fairs in the conclusion of all this drama.
It’s easy to dislike Nolan’s mom and Danny’s ex, Eve (Andrea Riseborough). She’s greedy and seedy at times, but at the same time there’s something more to her character underneath. Will she be a big player in the final season? We won’t be mad if she is.
Eric O’Bannon (Jamie McShane), Danny’s bad influence of a friend (though, maybe Danny was the bad influence all along) and brother to Danny’s love interest Chelsea (Chloe Sevigny), is questioned by John in the final episode of Season 2. It seems as though John might take Eric out for what he knows about Danny’s murder, but John ends up letting Eric free. Will he tell anyone else his story besides Marco?
Ozzy is nothing short of pissed that Eve has left without a word. But as he’s packing up to leave their hotel and ostensibly head back to the city, one of the drug thugs comes to his room and leads him off at gun point. Where are they going, and what are they going to do with him?
