Timothy Olyphant is joining the band – or rather, the cast of Amazon’s rock musical drama “Daisy Jones & The Six.”
The “Justified” and “Santa Clarita Diet” actor will have a recurring role in the series, which follows the rise and fall of ’70s rock band Daisy Jones & The Six from their Pittsburgh roots to the world stage.
According to Amazon, Olyphant will play Rod, a road manager who helps the Dunne Brothers’ band move to L.A., and pick a new name. Rod also helps them navigate interpersonal conflicts that threaten to tear the group apart.
Riley Keough headlines as Daisy Jones. Sam Claflin plays Billy Dunne, while Will Harrison plays Graham Dunne. The series also stars Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse, Josh Witehouse, Nabiya Be, Sebastian Chacon and Tom Wright. Will Graham and Scott Neustadter serve as showrunners.
Hello Sunshine will produce the series, with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive producing, alongside others. Circle of Confusion’s Brad Mendelsohn is an executive producer for the company. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid, who wrote the book “Daisy Jones & The Six,” also produces. Michael H. Weber adapted Reid’s book. The first five episodes will be directed by James Ponsoldt, who also executive produces.
Olyphant has a number of projects in the works, including “National Champions,” “Havoc,” and an untitled David O. Russell production. He recently starred in TV’s “Fargo” and held guest roles on “Rick and Morty,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “The Mandalorian,” and “The Good Place.”
A series premiere date has yet to be announced.
