NBC just released the first look at Season 5 of “This Is Us,” and the Pearsons are about to start a new beginning — and face the harsh realities of the coronavirus.

The promo includes a brief shot of Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) wearing a mask, which reminds us that this season will be tackling the coronavirus.

In August, creator Dan Fogelman confirmed plans to “attack” COVID-19 “head on” in Season 5.

As usual, the promo clip, which you can watch below, was pretty emotional.

“I think it’s time we start a new chapter,” Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) says in the clip.

We’re reminded of the fight between siblings Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin (Hartley) when Kevin finds Randall standing at his door and says, “The worst thing that ever happened to me is the day they brought you home.”

That’s harsh coming from a triplet and member of “The Big Three.”

The end of “This Is Us” Season 4 took place in the spring of 2020, right before the pandemic hit, and included a far-off time jump to decades into the future — but also one to Aug. 31, 2020, where a small group of the Pearson family was all alone together in a cabin — which could easily be worked into a storyline about how the Pearsons are living through COVID-19 just like the rest of us were at that point in time.

Tune in to the two-hour Season 5 premiere of “This Is Us” Tuesday, Oct. 27 on NBC.
