“This Is Us” Season 3 returns from its midseason hiatus tonight with a new episode — and will soon return with at least one new face, as “ER” and “Timeless” alum Goran Višnjić has been cast in a recurring role on the family drama.

Višnjić will play Vincent, a teacher of Beth’s (Susan Kelechi Watson), an individual with knowledge of the casting tells TheWrap. He will first appear in the episode focused on Beth’s backstory airing later this season.

The Beth backstory episode has been teased by creator Dan Fogelman and the “This Is Us” cast for a while now. You can read what Sterling K. Brown (Randall) told TheWrap about the episode here, and what Melanie Liburd (Zoe) told us here.

Višnjić is best known for playing Dr. Luka Kovac on NBC’s long-running medical drama, “ER,” and most recently starred on Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke’s NBC drama, “Timeless,” which just wrapped its 2-season run with a standalone series finale last December.

He will next be seen opposite Drew Barrymore on Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet.” His recent silver screen credits include Steven Spielberg’s futuristic thriller “Extant” and “Red Widow.”

Višnjić is repped by WME, Management 360 & Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.

“This Is Us” Season 3 returns tonight, Tuesday, at 9/8c on NBC.
