“This Is Us” fans will have to wait longer than expected for the NBC drama’s next episode, “Songbird Road: Part Two,” thanks to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech.
Originally scheduled for next Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 9 p.m., the Dan Fogelman-created series will now return with the conclusion to its two-parter on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 9 p.m., to make room for Trump’s address to air on NBC during the “This Is Us” time slot next week.
The planned date for the Season 3 finale is also going to change, due to the broadcast of POTUS’ speech, with that installment moving to Tuesday, April 2 at 9 p.m.
Trump’s address will also affect the time slot for NBC’s new drama, “The Village.” Originally scheduled to air in the 10 o’clock hour from its March 12 premiere until it shifted up an hour on April 2, the show will air right after “This Is Us” until it takes over its 9 p.m. time slot on April 9.
“This Is Us” offered up a seriously dark family reunion during last week’s episode, “Songbird Road: Part One,” when the Big Three were introduced to their Uncle Nicky (played in the present by Griffin Dunne and in the past by Michael Angarano) — Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) younger brother who they definitely all thought died in Vietnam, because that’s what Jack told them their whole lives.
