‘The Walking Dead’ Goes Back to High School in First Trailer for New Prequel Series (Video)

Untitled series is set to premiere in 2020

AMC dropped the first trailer for its untitled third “Walking Dead” series at New York Comic Con on Saturday.

Set to debut in spring 2020, stars Alexa Mansour and Aliyah Royale and focuses on “the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it,” per AMC. “Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”

Nico Tortorella, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu and Hal Cumpston also star.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the series, which is co-created by Scott Gimple, chief content officer of AMC’s “Walking Dead” universe, and franchise veteran Matt Negrete, who will serve as showrunner.

The trailer premiered at “The Walking Dead’s” New York Comic Con panel on Saturday, where it was also announced that the flagship series had been picked up for an 11th season at AMC, with recently departed star Lauren Cohan (Maggie) set to return as a series regular.
