President Donald Trump’s craving for flattery and loyalty seems to be bordering on “a psychological issue” at this point, at least according to “The View” host Joy Behar. On Tuesday morning’s episode of the talk show, the ABC host could only scoff at his interaction with French president Emmanuel Macron.

To kick off the day’s Hot Topics, the women discussed a recent press conference with Macron and Trump, in which Trump noted that, during a recent dinner at the Eiffel Tower, “we didn’t have an interpreter, and he was going on and on and on, and I was just nodding yes, yes, yes. And he really sold me out, because I got back the next day, I read the papers, I said, ‘That’s not what we said.’ He’s a smart customer.”

In that same press conference, Macron publicly fact checked Trump on an incorrect claim, prompting moderator Whoopi Goldberg to pose the question: “is that the way to manage this all? Mix flattery in with your fact checks?”

Behar was first to chime in with her disgust for Trump.

“The amount of flattery that this man needs is a psychological issue,” she said. “I mean, Roman emperors did not need this much ring kissing. Everyone has to love him. The neediness! The man is almost 80 years old, and he has got the neediness of a toddler.”

Behar also latched onto the repeated physical contact between the two men, with Trump repeatedly reaching out to put a hand on Macron, and Macron seemingly trying to remove it subtly.

“Why does he keep touching him?” Behar asked. “What’s with the hand on the knee? You notice Macron was like, ‘Get away from me.’”
