Ratings for the 19th-season premiere of ABC’s “The View” dropped 22 percent from last year’s season opener, which hit an eight-year high due to the return of Rosie O’Donnell after a seven-year absence.
The revamped syndicated talk show earned a 2.5 rating among households and a 1.0 rating among its targeted demographic of women aged 25-54 — a steep 47 percent drop from a year ago.
Apparently newcomer co-hosts Paula Faris, Michelle Collins, Raven-Symoné and Candace Cameron Bure were less of a draw than O’Donnell, who left the daytime show for a second time last February.
Season 19 of “The View” also saw the return of veteran panelists Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.
