Keke Palmer stopped by “The View” on Wednesday morning, and she didn’t waste the opportunity to talk to host Whoopi Goldberg about working together — specifically on “Sister Act 3.”
To Palmer’s credit, she timed her request just right. In reality, she was on the show to promote her new book series “Southern Belle Insults” on Amazon Prime. She fielded questions about her books, her career so far, and even got into her personal life a bit, indulging host Sara Haines’ questions about her love life.
But, about midway through the interview, Palmer turned to Whoopi directly, and made her request.
“Now Whoopi, I gotta shoot my shot, like I did with Issa a little bit ago,” Palmer said. “I heard that Tyler Perry is doing ‘Sister Act 3’ and I just want you to know I’m available for the job. Any job. I mean, you ain’t got to say nothing now, you know, I’ll send you an email or something. Just let know if you need me.”
For those unfamiliar, Palmer did indeed make a similar move with Issa Rae and her show “Insecure.” In September of last year, Palmer tweeted at Rae saying “Hey @IssaRae there’s been a mix up. I posted about my excitement for season 5 of Insecure and now everyone thinks I’m gonna be on it. We can’t let them down, put me in to beat Condola’s ass real quick.”
And it worked. Palmer appeared in the third episode of Season 5, ironically as Condola’s sister. So naturally, the actress is hoping to pull off the maneuver a second time — and it looks like it may work.
Well, actually, it looks like it might’ve been unnecessary altogether. Whoopi did in fact have something to say in the moment, and it left Palmer excited but speechless.
“I already brought it up,” Whoopi replied with a smile.
It’s not official confirmation, obviously, but fans might want to keep their eyes out now.
