‘The View’: Alyssa Farah Griffin Says Elon Musk Is Being Used ‘In the Dumbest Possible Way’

“There is a world in which having him, for free, advise the U.S. government could be an asset,” the ABC host argues

As Elon Musk continues to take a sledgehammer — or, in his words, a chainsaw — to government programs and staffing, “The View” host Alyssa Farah Griffin has determined that he’s been employed “in the dumbest possible way.”

To kick off Thursday’s Hot Topics, the ABC hosts discussed President Donald Trump’s cabinet meeting this week, in which Elon Musk at least appeared to be presiding by being the only one of Trump’s team not sitting down. And seeing those images, Farah Griffin was mostly baffled.

“My honest take was A) why didn’t someone get Elon Musk a chair? He’s just kind of hovering over the entire meeting, like, dressed in all black,” she questioned with a laugh. “But then also, cabinet meetings are kind of pointless. No actual decision-making happens in them, it’s kind of — especially in the Trump era — it’s turned into basically everyone goes around one by one and flatters the president. So it felt like an odd sideshow, I didn’t really get the purpose of it.”

That said, Farah Griffin started her point by noting that her biggest issue with Musk right now is that he could actually have been a help to the country, had he been properly placed.

“This is my gripe with Elon Musk: there is a world in which having him, for free, advise the U.S. government could be an asset,” she said. “This is somebody who made incredible investments with EVs, with Teslas, with SpaceX.”

“I’ve toured what they’ve done at NASA, he is a brilliant person when it comes to rocket science, engineering. Not federal staffing!” she continued. “We’re using him in the dumbest possible way, in the way he is least qualified to be used, and it just doesn’t really make sense to me.”

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
