The hosts of “The View” went off on InfoWars host Alex Jones on Thursday morning’s show, calling him “demonic” and “a vile scumbag” for his claims about the Sandy Hook massacre. Host Sara Haines even went so far as to say that, beyond monetary punishment, Jones deserves to feel “even a fraction of the pain” endured by the parents of those kids.
The discussion came following the latest decision in the ongoing litigation against Jones, in which he was ordered to pay almost $1 billion in damages to the families of Sandy Hook victims, for his repeated claims that the deadly shooting was a hoax. As a result of his years of false claims, the families of those children testified that they faced harassment, including death threats and desecration of their kids’ graves.
And while the hosts of “The View” were definitely pleased with the amount of money Jones has been ordered to pay — host and former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin marveled that the amount is “unheard of” — Haines argued that he deserves worse.
“The damage he has caused to these people, beyond the worst pain you can feel in life, which is losing your child — they live with that. And they can never fill that hole,” Haines said. “To finally have some accountability, I just want him — I don’t say this lightly — to feel even a fraction of the pain they have felt, for the rest of his life.”
Host Joy Behar added that “he seems demonic, and his followers seem demented and delusional,” and criticized right-wing politicians who have continued to defend the InfoWars host, like Marjorie Taylor Greene. (Greene noted that though Jones’ words were wrong, the lawsuit against him is still a prosecution of free speech).
“I mean, how low — this is about as bad as you can get, I think. I have never seen anybody more demonic than this,” Behar said. “When you are getting off, somehow, on people’s pain, that their children were killed. What kind of a person is this?”
Meanwhile, host Alyssa Farah Griffin noted that she doesn’t like to name-call, but she had a few choice ones for Jones — including “vile scumbag.”
