Disney+ is catering to “The Simpsons” fans in a major way, launching a new 24/7 livestream that only features episodes of the iconic Matt Groening show. The new offering is available starting Tuesday.
The livestream will showcase all 767 episodes of the Fox series across its 35 seasons (apart from the current 36th). Those episodes will play in chronological order, meaning fans can look forward to almost 300 continuous hours of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. If you’ve ever wanted to throw on an episode of “The Simpsons” but have felt too overwhelmed to comb through the literal hundreds of options, now you can just press play and let Disney+ take the wheel. The stream will be available to Premium Disney+ subscribers and will be refreshed monthly.
“From day one, the fans have asked for a Stream of ‘The Simpsons,’ and we’re happy to oblige,” Gabe Lewis, SVP of Programming and Content Curation for Disney+, said in a Tuesday statement. “Streams on Disney+ have been a fantastic go-to experience for subscribers looking to sit back and relax with their favorite shows and movies, and we look forward to evolving the user experience and expanding the offering with more streams, to more subscribers, later this year.”
“‘The Simpsons’ stream will deliver a ‘Simpsons’ marathon all day, every day — no matter when you tune in, this ultimate ‘Simpsons’ binge will be there,” series showrunner Matt Selman added.
This is far from the only time Disney+ has experimented with curated livestreams. Before “The Simpsons,” the streamer had five streams: the action-focused Hits and Heroes, the nostalgic Throwbacks, the documentary and biopic-focused Real Life, the broadcast hub ABC News and, finally, its stream designed for younger viewers, Disney+ Playtime.
It also makes sense that the streamer would expand this particular feature with a title in the adult animation space. These types of shows consistently rank among the most-watched for streamers, with many of their fans watching them continuously. In fact, both “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers” ranked among the most-streamed series of 2024 according to Nielsen, accounting for 42.44 billion viewing minutes and 36.8 billion minutes, respectively.
