‘The Simpsons’ Goes ’80s With Epic New Opening Credits (Video)

Homer channels Don Johnson in a white suit for a “Miami Vice” parody, while Sofia Vergara voices Bart’s new teacher-crush

“The Simpsons” is going full ’80s this Sunday, and the epic opening credits will have you missing the mayhem of “Miami Vice.”

The new episode, titled “Teenage Mutant Milk-Caused Hurdles,” launches with Homer channeling Don Johnson in a white suit, pastel T-shirt, aviator sunglasses and rippling muscles as he is catapulted via his couch into the world of “LA-Z Rider.”

A mashup of crime-fighting, gun-toting, speedboat-riding, bad guy-chasing — with Ned Flanders making an appearance as Fernando Whitmore — follows, all to a jaunty ’80s soundtrack.

The opening couch gag was created by animator Steve Cutts, and the subsequent episode of the Fox animated hit features Sofia Vergara as a guest voice.

A new teacher (Vergara) starts work at Springfield Elementary, and a captivated Bart then tries everything to win her over.

Meanwhile, Homer decides to buy a new brand of “milk,” which causes early puberty, both for Bart (augmenting his wooing powers) and Lisa (whose small bout with acne opens her up to the world of makeup and popularity).

“The Simpsons” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
