‘The Simpsons’ Season Premiere Kicks Off With ‘Adventure Time’ Couch Gag (Video)

28th season of animated Fox series premieres on Sept. 25

“The Simpsons” is kicking off Season 28 with a wink and a nod to another popular animated show, Adult Swim’s “Adventure Time.”

The Sept. 25 premiere’s couch gag features Marge, Lisa and Maggie on the couch on top of a mountain, with Bart and Homer still trying to make the climb. Bart makes it to the top, as does Homer, but Homer (not in his classic form) gets kicked back down by his son.

The list of memorable “Simpsons” couch gags includes Disney movies, the Game of Life, Letterman and “Breaking Bad.” At one point, the whole town showed up to join the Simpson family on the couch for some evening TV watching. And on another occasion, two Simpson families appeared.

According to Uproxx, “The Simpsons” premiere will feature special guest Amy Schumer in the role of Mr. Burns’ mom. The episode, titled “Monty Burns’ Fleeing Circus,” will finally delve into C. Montgomery Burns’ past.

“The Simpsons” was created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company and first aired on Dec. 17, 1989. The show has aired almost 600 episodes since its debut. The animated series features the voices of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer.
