“Final Destination” alum Ali Larter is set to star on “The Sidelines,” an adult-cheerleader comedy series produced by Ben Stiller in the works at Fox.

The half-hour, single-camera comedy, which has received a script commitment from the network, follows “a newly separated mother of two who, at age 40, decides to achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a professional cheerleader,” according to the project’s logline. “Against all odds, she makes the squad for a local Detroit football team and becomes the accidental den mother to this group of scrappy, resilient young women – and rediscovers herself in the process.”

Kate Gersten (“The Good Place,” “Mozart in the Jungle”) is writing the script and executive producing the show, which hails from Fox’s Gail Berman-led SideCar Content Accelerator. Other executive producers for the potential series include Berman, Stiller, Larter, Alissa Vradenburg, and Nicky Weinstock and Jackie Cohn for Stiller’s Red Hour banner. Laura Vikmanis is a consulting producer for “The Sidelines.”

The comedy is a co-production between Fox Entertainment and SideCar, a “content accelerator” which is developing scripted and unscripted projects, identifying and incubating programming both for the network (Fox) and third-party platforms. Fox Entertainment will retain ownership of all series that originate under the Sidecar banner.
