Vanessa Kirby is going from Princess Margaret to “badass MI6 operative” in “Hobbs & Shaw,” the “Fast & Furious” spinoff starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham. And in this first image of Kirby shared by Johnson on Instagram, she certainly looks the part.
In the film directed by David Leitch (“Deadpool 2,” “Atomic Blonde”), Kirby plays Hattie Shaw, friends to Johnson’s Hobbs, but also the sister to Statham’s Deckard Shaw, a detail that “tortures” Shaw as the two battle as rivals.
“Hattie loves the following,” Johnson said in an Instagram post accompanying the photo. “Longs walks on the beach. Being a bad ass MI6 Operative. Drinking tequila with Hobbs. And not in that order.”
Johnson added that he’s thrilled to be working with Kirby, who previously starred as The White Widow in the sixth “Mission: Impossible” film, this year’s “MI6: Fallout.”
“His pain makes me very happy,” Johnson said about Statham’s character. “But what makes me happier is welcoming this crazy talented actress and cool chick to our movie. Havin’ a blast together. Building out the franchise step by step.”
