20th Century Fox released the first trailer for Shane Black’s reinvention of “The Predator” on Thursday, unleashing an upgraded version of the alien species that once tussled with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The short teaser gives a glimpse into the film’s plot, which sees a young boy (Jacob Tremblay) accidentally trigger the aliens’ return to Earth. The video sees Tremblay open a box of alien artifacts that his father, played by “Logan’s” Boyd Holbrook, came back with after a very far-off expedition.
The trailer then shows quick cuts of the Predator tearing through some kind of jungle, interspersed with Olivia Munn describing the re-imagined aliens: “They’re upgrading on every planet they visit.”
In the original “Predator” movie that was released in 1987, Black was one of the first characters killed in “Predator.”
“The Predator” hits theaters on September 14 and stars Holbrook, Tremblay, Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Sterling K. Brown and Keegan-Michael Key. Black co-wrote the screenplay with Fred Dekker (“Monster Squad”).
