The second trailer for Matt Damon‘s star-studded “The Martian” movie landed on Earth’s Internet Wednesday.
The peek at the potential blockbuster offers little in the way of new footage from the film’s first trailer, which can be viewed here. It does provide some additional insight of who at NASA is on board for a rescue mission — which presumably would take eight years round-trip — and who is against it.
We’re looking at you, Jeff Daniels. Tsk-tsk.
In the film, Damon plays an astronaut who becomes stranded on the Mars. He must find ways to survive in the inhospitable environment while managing to signal NASA for rescue. Even if his message gets through, as the tagline points out, “Help is only 140 million miles away.”
“The Martian” also stars Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Kristen Wiig, Jessica Chastain, Michael Pena, Donald Glover and Chiwetel Ejiofor, among others. Ridley Scott directed the film. Drew Goddard wrote the screenplay, which was based on the novel of the same name.
20th Century Fox releases the Scott Free production in theaters on Oct. 2.
