‘The Girl in the Photographs’ Stars Talk Being Part of Wes Craven’s ‘Legacy’ (Video)

Miranda Rae Mayo and Kenny Wormald discuss Nick Simon horror movie with Stuart Brazell on TheWrap’s Drinking With the Stars

“The Girl in the Photographs” stars Miranda Rae Mayo and Kenny Wormald talked about working on a film executive produced by horror legend Wes Craven in the latest episode of TheWrap’s Drinking With the Stars.

“He was so great at not doing the obvious, cheap shot when it comes to horror. He was really great about being creative, and creating situations that are what they are and happen to be terrifying,” Mayo told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell.

“He loved [director] Nick [Simon] and they had a relationship prior to this film, and when they got the chance to make the film, Wes was on board,” said Wormald. “To be part of his legacy, whether he was alive or not, was still unbelievable for us as actors … And you know when his name is attached that it’s for real.”

The horror film, opening in theaters tomorrow, was the last produced by Craven before his death last August. Kal Penn, Claudia Lee, Toby Hemingway, Luke Baines, Katharine Isabelle and Mitch Pileggi also star.

The duo played coy about whether or not their characters survive to see the end of the movie, but they did discuss their preferences as actors.

Wormald decided that being “killed last” is getting the best of both worlds, but Mayo took a slightly more pragmatic stance.

“You want to be the last man standing in case there’s a sequel and you need to pay your rent. Let’s keep it real,” she said before adding, “either way, it’s great.”

“The Girl in the Photographs” opens on Friday.
