‘The Gifted:’ Natalie Alyn Lind Says You Can Expect a ‘Lot More Characters From the Comics’ (Video)

“For my character in general, she’s really learning how to develop her powers, and kind of becoming a badass,” Lind tells TheWrap

The X-Men universe has expanded its TV presence in “The Gifted,” a new show in which mutants are legal, but snubbed by society.

TheWrap’s Stuart Brazelle caught up with star Natalie Alyn Lind, who plays Lauren Strucker, a mutant who has shielding powers.

“For the X-Men comic book fans, we’re bringing in a lot more characters from the comics,” Lind told TheWrap. “In Episode 2, we already have Dreamer, who’s a comic book character, Shatter, Sage. Just more characters are coming in even more as the series continues.”

“For my character in general, she’s really learning how to develop her powers, and kind of becoming a badass,” Lind said. “And wanting to help in any way possible.”

As for her character’s motivation, “For me, I don’t think that Lauren is against humans, I don’t think she’s against mutants, I think she’s for what’s right,” Lind continued. “Her first priority always is her family, but she really wants to start developing a new family in this mutant underground.”

As for how “The Gifted” will fit in with the rest of the X-Men fandom, Lind said she’d love to see a crossover with the FX hit “Legion.”

“I think that would be really cool,” she said. “‘Legion’ is based on a lot of the X-Men characters, too, so our show falls into everybody at a younger age.”
