‘The Dark Knight’ Wins #Fav7Films Hashtag on Twitter

Fans used the hashtag to list their seven favorite movies of all time

Tens of thousands of Twitter users participated in the hashtag #fav7films on Monday, where fans were asked to list their seven favorite movies. But there was one clear winner — “The Dark Knight.”

According to social media research and digital media consultancy firm FizziologyChristopher Nolan‘s 2008 film was mentioned 5,056 times between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET on Monday, while the hashtag itself was used 100,000 times during that time frame.

“Pulp Fiction” was mentioned 4,966 times, while “Fight Club” was referenced 3,574 times. Other films on the top 15 list included “The Big Lebowski,” “Forrest Gump” and “The Empire Strikes Back.”

The research firm also found that this month’s “Suicide Squad” received more mentions than “The Force Awakens,” while the top animated film was “Up.” Tommy Wiseau’s “The Room” received more mentions than “A Beautiful Mind,” “Spotlight” and “12 Years a Slave.”

“E.T.,” “Up” and “Interstellar” also received thousands of mentions. The top five films from 2016 were “Deadpool,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Suicide Squad, “Zootopia” and “Batman v Superman.”

“Interestingly, these were all significantly lower volume-wise than movies from 2015 and earlier,” a rep from the company told TheWrap.
