Who’s “The Boss”? Oh, that’s just Melissa McCarthy in a comically bad wig.
The “Mike & Molly” actress debuted her trailer for upcoming April film “The Boss” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night. In the feature-length comedy, McCarthy plays Michelle Darnell, the power-crazy 47th wealthiest woman in the world.
As one might expect from the setup, the obnoxious character gets her comeuppance via an insider trading bust. Six months of prison time later, the dead-broke Darnell finds herself starting over — and jail has not humbled her too much.
The character decides to exploit a former underling’s (Kristen Bell) daughter’s Girl Scout-esque brownie sales business as her big comeback. And yes, she brawls with other moms and even clotheslines a child along the way.
“The Boss” also stars Peter Dinklage, Kristen Schaal, Kathy Bates, Cecily Strong, Parker Young and Margo Martindale, among others. McCarthy’s husband, Ben Falcone, wrote, directed and co-stars in the movie.
The Universal McCarthy vehicle goes from the boardroom to the box office on April 8, 2016.
