The new trailer for Disney’s “The BFG” gives audiences the first full look at Steven Spielberg‘s big friendly giant.
Starring Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall and Bill Hader, “The BFG” tells the story of a giant who makes friends with a little girl and introduces her to the world of Giant Country. The other giants are nothing like the BFG, however, and Sophie’s presence in Giant Country has attracted the attention of the evil ones. The BFG must prove to Sophie that he collects dreams and sends them to children.
“It’s a story about friendship, it’s a story about loyalty and protecting your friends and it’s a story that shows that even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems,” Spielberg said.
The film is produced by Spielberg, Frank Marshall (“Jurassic World”) and Sam Mercer (“Snow White and the Huntsman”), with Kathleen Kennedy, John Madden, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Michael Siegel, Frank Smith and Naia Cucukov executive producing.
Roald Dahl’s novel, “The BFG,” was first published in 1982 and has since been translated into 41 languages. His books, which also include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” have sold over 200 million copies globally.
“The BFG” hits theaters on July 1.
