Bachelor Nation watched in awe as Rachel Lindsay and Peter Kraus tearfully parted ways over his reticence to pop the question during Monday’s Season 13 finale of ABC’s “The Bachelorette.”
Lindsay, who ultimately got engaged to Bryan Abasolo at the end of the episode, told reporters during a conference call on Tuesday that it wasn’t just Kraus’ unwillingness to commit to marriage with Lindsay that led to their undoing.
“I started to see some deep-rooted issues,” Lindsay said. “I want someone who knows who he is and knows where he’s going. The proposal became such a focal point because that’s what happened at the end of the show, but that was not the reason why I didn’t choose Peter.”
The Dallas-based attorney said that she and Kraus maintained their relationship until the final episode because he “continued to give me enough to string me along.”
Abasolo explained that he watched every episode of the season, despite having to see Lindsay develop strong connection with other men.
“I wanted to see everything — I wanted to see how she interacted with all the guys,” said the Miami-based chiropractor.
He added that the pair hope to get married in “late 2018 or early 2019,” and that they can see themselves having four children together.
“Bachelor in Paradise” launches its fourth season Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
