“The Bachelorette” JoJo Fletcher had a tough choice to make on Monday night — between former NFL quarterback Jordan Rodgers and former competitive swimmer Robby Hayes.
In the end, after a long and grueling competition, there could be only one taking the winner’s medal — we mean, final rose — and that was Jordan.
“I love you so much. I’ve been waiting to tell you that I love you. I love you so much. I didn’t want you to get down on one knee until you knew that,” the real estate developer told her chosen beau when she handed out her final rose during the marathon three-hour Season 12 finale on ABC.
On cue, Rodgers did drop down on one knee and proposed, telling his reality TV sweetheart: “I love you so much. I fell in love first with just us, just the person I could be right away with you. How comfortable and confident, and how you challenged me and continue to challenge me to be the best version of myself,” he said.
“You made me believe that love doesn’t need to have script … You’re my best friend, you’re my soul mate. I’m gonna keep you safe, I’m gonna protect you, I’m gonna wake up every morning and choose you, over and over and over again until you tell me I can.”
After JoJo tearfully accepted, her now-fiance told her, “It’s real. It’s been real.”
Rodgers, the 27-year-old brother of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, had been a frontrunner from the start, and was actually the first suitor to steal a proper kiss from Fletcher.
However, dark horse Hayes, also 27, proved himself to be a strong competitor, and was the first to tell JoJo that he loved him.
Fletcher, meanwhile, told her parents that she loved both guys, but hadn’t let either of them know. Awkward. “Neither of them know, I really want to save that because of everything that happened with Ben [Higgins],” she said.
