Ruth Wilson and Dominic West have an affair, and everything goes to hell, in a new trailer for Showtime’s “The Affair.”
In the exclusive new preview for the drama, which also stars Joshua Jackson and Maura Tierney, an ominous voiceover warns that everything happens for a reason and there are no such things as accidents.

This could be particularly alarming as one scene shows Wilson’s character Allison sitting in an interrogation room in front of a detective. Something bad is definitely going to happen as a result of her affair with West’s character Noah, though the new teaser only hints at rising tensions and potential fallout.
The show is written by Sarah Treem from a story she created with Hagai Levi, with whom she worked on the American adaption of “In Treatment.” They will serve as executive producers, along with executive director Jeffrey Reiner and Eric Overmyer.
