Ryan Gosling finally levels with us about how absurd the dream of becoming an actor is — and why it’s a dream worth chasing.
“Everyone’s left their families, their homes, their friends, their jobs, to pursue a dream where they know that the percentage of them achieving that dream is never, and they do it anyway,” Gosling says in a new clip from James Toback and Alec Baldwin‘s documentary, “Seduced and Abandoned.”

But that’s what makes Los Angeles great, the “Place Beyond the Pines” actor says: “It’s filled with all these Don Quixote-type characters.”
Even though the audition process is terrible, even for an A-lister like Gosling, an actor has to go through the grind to see his dreams come to reality.
The HBO documentary was released in October, but this clip is making the rounds now thanks to BuzzFeed — though, frankly, who really needs a reason to watch 2 minutes of Ryan Gosling talking about something?
