Terrence Howard, Taye Diggs, Nia Long and the rest of the cast of "The Best Man" will reunite for a sequel to the 1999 comedy, Universal Pictures said Thursday.
The follow-up will hits theaters on Nov. 15, 2013, and will follow the gang of college pals as the reunite over the Christmas holidays. The first film centered on the a group of young professionals, and examined their rivalries and romances as they gathered together at one friend's wedding.
It grossed $34 million on a $9 million budget and helped establish the careers of Howard, who would go on to be nominated for an Oscar for 2005's "Hustle and Flow," and Diggs, who co-stars on the show "Private Practice."
Malcolm D. Lee will write and direct the sequel, which Sean Daniel of "The Mummy" franchise will produce alongside Lee.
Also reprising their roles are Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall.
