Telemundo’s new Saturday strategy is yielding results. Saturday’s series premiere of variety show “¡Que Noche! con Angelica y Raul” averaged 1.3 million total viewers, with 538,000 coming from the key 18-49 demographic.
The debut outperformed Univision’s own new Saturday night offering, “Sabadazo,” by 16 percent in the demo. It also just barely topped the competition’s new weekend launch by about a thousand adults in the main demo. “Sabadazo,” which debuted Oct. 17, led in total viewers.
Telemundo topped the 7-11 p.m. primetime day part on Saturday. Final numbers comparing this weekend’s “Que Noche!” and “Sabadazo” will be available on Tuesday.
Locally in New York and Miami, “Que Noche!” (Translation: “What a Night!”) was the top show in its 7-9 p.m. time slot, regardless of language.
Socially, the show reached a total of 7.7 million global Facebook users and generated 101,000 total actions across Facebook and Twitter, the NBCUniversal network boasted. Hashtag #QueNoche generated 12,800 instances on Twitter.
Saturday night is open season for the American Spanish-language broadcast networks: “Sabado Gigante” ended its 53-year run in mid-September.
