“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” fans are speculating that WWE superstar Sheamus has been cast as Shredder’s mutant sidekick Rocksteady, and there’s a lot of evidence supporting the claim.
The wrestler appeared in some leaked photos from the set alongside Gary Anthony Williams, who has been cast as Bebop, another one of Shredder’s mutant henchmen. Williams, still in human form, was rocking his character’s classic mohawk, while sitting next to Sheamus dressed in punk attire.
In addition, Sheamus posted a picture (below) on his official Twitter account in which he appears with Williams, Shredder actor Brian Tee, and Tee’s wife, Mirelly Taylor.
Paramount declined to comment, and the WWE did not yet respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
In the “TMNT” universe, Bebop and Rocksteady are two human street gang members employed by Shredder. In an effort to help them defeat the Turtles, Shredder mutates them by combining their DNA with that of a warthog and a rhinoceros respectively.
The 2014 reboot of the franchise grossed almost $500 million worldwide. It left the door open for Megan Fox and Will Arnett to return alongside the heroes in a half shell — Leonardo (Pete Ploszek), Raphael (Alan Ritchson), Michelangelo (Noel Fisher) and Donatello (Jeremy Howard). “Jackass” star Johnny Knoxville also returns to voice Leonardo in the sequel directed by Dave Green.
