Surfboards over sharks, you guys: Sunday’s “Teen Choice 2014” topped this week’s Twitter TV Ratings, besting the “CMA Music Festival” and the opening to Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week.”
For the teen awards, which aired on Fox, 624,000 Unique Authors posted 4.4 million tweets. The “CMA Music Festival” on ABC generated 176,000 tweets from 85,000 users.

“Shark of Darkness: Wrath of Submarine” on Discovery pulled in 122,000 tweets from 87,000 users. The kick off to the cable channel’s Shark Week ended up being the highest-rated night in the gimmick’s 27 years.
ABC Family show “Pretty Little Liars” wound up in fourth, with “WWE Monday Night Raw” settling in fifth place. “PLL” technically had the second most tweets sent of the week, but as you can see by the below chart, Nielsen ranks by Unique Audience.
Shark Week had its second Top 10 Twitter show Sunday with “Air Jaws: Fin of Fury.” “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” “Bachelor in Paradise,” “Teen Wolf” and “Big Brother” close out the list.
