Oh, the perks of power — and of embarrassing yourself via your official Twitter account.

Senator Ted Cruz has been offered a free lifetime subscription to the Reality Kings porn site, after his Twitter account very publicly “liked” a video from the adult-entertainment outlet.

On Tuesday, after Cruz’s Twitter account sparked a national point-and-laugh spree, Reality Kings made the offer, declaring that the Republican politician from Texas had done nothing wrong by endorsing its product, however briefly.

“Reality Kings would like to offer @tedcruz a free lifetime membership for making our morning so special. DM us! #TedCruzDidNothingWrong!” Reality Kings announced via its Twitter account.

With one month of full access to the site going for $29.99, it might be an offer that Cruz is tempted to take up.

After his official Twitter account “liked” a hardcore porn video Monday night, Cruz spoke to reporters Tuesday, blaming the social-media incident on a “staffing issue” and calling it a “mistake.”

Speaking to reporters Tuesday at the Capitol, Cruz said, “There are a number of people on the team who have access to the account. It appears that someone inadvertently hit the ‘like’ button and when we discovered the post, which was, I guess, an hour or two later, we pulled it down.

“It was a staffing issue and it was inadvertent, it was a mistake, it was not a deliberate action,” he continued, according to the Washington Post. “We’re dealing with it internally, but it was a mistake, it was not malicious conduct.”

Which hasn’t stopped Twitter from having a field day with the snafu.

Among those weighing in was comedian Patton Oswalt, who wrote, “I keep trying to write a Ted Cruz tweet but the thought of him yanking it gives me a mini-stroke from sheer horror.”

“Will Ted Cruz get in trouble because the porn he tweeted wasn’t underage or homosexual?” Infowars commentator Alex Jones wrote.
