TCA: Conan Says NBC Like a Phantom Limb

O’Brien says what he misses most about his old gig

NBC sometimes still feels like a phantom limb for Conan O’Brien.

“I was with that company for a long time and had a lot of amazing experiences with them and felt like a part of that family … that meant a lot to me to be part of NBC,” O’Brien told TheWrap at the Television Critics Association winter press tour Wednesday. “You know, it’s like when they take off a limb… you still feel like you have that limb.”

In a Q&A session at the studio for his new TBS show, "Conan," O'Brien was asked what he would miss the most and the least about his old job. O’Brien declined to say what he would miss the least. But he said he missed working for the same company for 17 years.

“There’s a whole body of work that I did that I feel a little detached from. Seventeen years of work that I’m really proud of, 'Late Night' and 'The Tonight Show,'" he said. "It’s very strange for me to feel like I’ve left that world and will not go to that world again.”
