Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Sam Smith are among the nominees for the 2015 American Music Awards, which will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez on Nov. 22 live from the Microsoft Theater.
Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth appeared live on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday to announce nominees in six categories for the awards show.
Other nominees include Luke Bryan, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Meghan Trainor.
Swift leads this year with six nominations, while Sheeran and The Weeknd tie with five nominations each. Sam Hunt, Minaj, Smith, Meghan Trainor and Walk the Moon each earned three nominations.
Additionally, Jason Aldean, Chris Brown, Luke Byran, Drake, Fetty Wap, Florida Georgia Line, Grande, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, One Direction, Puth, Rihanna, Mark Ronson and Wiz Khalifa each received two nominations each.
American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring.
The AMA winners are voted entirely by fans — voting opened Tuesday. The awards are produced by dick clark productions. Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan are executive producers, while Larry Klein, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco are producers.
