‘Takers’ Director in Negotiations for ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D’

John Luessenhop will likely join the project which will begin production in June

Leatherface will once again terrorize audiences, but this time the blood thirsty freak will wield his signature chainsaw in three dimensions.

Lionsgate announced on Monday that "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D" will begin production in June with John Luessenhop ("Takers") in discussions to direct.

Lionsgate took over the rights to the venerable horror franchise from New Line in 2009, but the project stalled briefly in development.

The film is a collaboration between Lionsgate and Nu Image, with Lionsgate assuming U.S. distribution rights and Nu Image handling international sales beginning at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Carl Mazzocone, former president of production at Twisted Pictures, will produce. Nu Image’s Avi Lerner and Mark Burg will be executive producing.
