Marvel’s “Civil War” installment isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until 2016, but two of the studio’s biggest heroes are going at it early.
Chris Evans, who suits up as Captain America in multiple Marvel films, called out “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt on Monday for his choice in football teams.
“Well, well, well @prattprattpratt, looks like our teams are going into battle,” Evans tweeted. “For the next 2 weeks, you are not my friend, you are my enemy.”
Evans is of course referring to the upcoming Super Bowl, which will pit the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots against the league’s defending champion Seattle Seahawks. Both actors play for the same team in the comic universe, but in the football world Evans is a Patriots fan while Pratt cheers for the Seahawks.
The Star-Lord (Pratt) was quick to respond with a barb of his own.
“We both know there’s only one Captain America and his name is Russell Wilson,” he wrote, referring to the Seahawks quarterback.
Evans took that as an invitation for a public bet. “Them’s fightin words,” he wrote. “Stakes?”
“OK,” Pratt responded, before laying out the terms for a charitable bet. “Seahawks win you fly yourself to Seattle, visit @seattlechildren hospital as Captain America, waving the 12th man flag.”
The two superheroes’ teams go head-to-head on Feb. 1 on NBC.
