The first promo for the “Supergirl”-“The Flash” crossover episode teases a tense showdown between the cross-network DC Comics heroes — at least at first.
Grant Gustin opens the promo as Barry Allen, making quick work of the Supergirl symbol before landing in a dark alley in National City, headquarters of Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), who doesn’t look pleased at the new arrival.
The episode is titled “Worlds Finest,” a nod to the old DC Comics book of the same name, and features an alternative-universe Flash showing up to help Supergirl battle villains Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci) and Livewire (Britt Morgan) in exchange for her help in finding him a way home.
“If we were to ever do [a crossover], we would have to explain why no one on ‘Arrow’ or ‘Flash’ or ‘Legends’ have ever mentioned that Superman exists,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who works on both shows, previously told TheWrap. Barry and Kara’s multiversal rift resolves that plot quandary.
Rumors and speculation on potential crossovers between CBS’ “Supergirl” and The CW’s DC superhero shows, which also include “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” swirled for months prior to the announcement in February of the Flash-Supergirl episode.
The crossover episode will air on Monday, March 28. “Supergirl” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and “The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
