We’ve known for a while that Kara is getting a costume change when “Supergirl” returns for its fifth season in October, but until now we’ve only had a single, somewhat obscured photo to see what it looks like. That changed Thursday when The CW released five new images from the upcoming season, including a bright and surprisingly casual look at the new uniform, and it’s pretty cool.
In addition, the CW also released four other images from the upcoming season, so fans of Dreamer, Querl Dox (AKA Braniac 5), Alex and J’onn J’onzz (or maybe Hank Henshaw) are covered, too.
But first up, the new uniform for Kara (Melissa Benoist) ditches her old super skirt and tights for a body suit similar to the one worn by her cousin Clark/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). It’s a cool take on the classic Kryptonian good-guy outfit and we’re into it — especially the boots — but we also can’t get over how much fun Kara’s goofy look of wonder is (this show really can’t come back fast enough). “Supergirl” Season 5 added Julie Gonzalo as DC’s Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata), and UK-based actor Staz Nair as William Dey. They join Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Jesse Rath as Querl Dox/Brainiac, Nicole Maines as Nia Nal, Azie Tesfai as Kelly Olsen, Andrea Brooks as Eve Tessmacher, and David Harewood as J’onn J’onzz.
