Super Bowl Drafts Idina Menzel to Sing National Anthem, John Legend Belting ‘America the Beautiful’

The pair will perform on NBC prior to kickoff of Super Bowl XLIX

Super Bowl XLIX has drafted a strong opening act.

Idina Menzel will sing the National Anthem and John Legend will sing “America the Beautiful,” the NFL and NBC announced Friday.

The duo’s performance comes after a banner 2014 Super Bowl; more than 112.2 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, the most-watched TV program in history.

The pregame show, including the National Anthem and “America The Beautiful” will be broadcast worldwide.

Katy Perry has already been dubbed as the halftime performer. Perry recently announced she’s invited rock star Lenny Kravitz to join her performance.

The big game airs February 1st. The two teams competing will be determined Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts face the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers face defending Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks.

The winners of those games will square off at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
